The Pelican Shed was built because we wanted a
place for our family holidays. We needed
something that was easy, lay back and child
friendly. Our three children loved body boarding
at long beach and finding crabs and fishing in
the outlet so we found the perfect spot for our
"shack". It is nestled between long beach and
the outlet and in easy walking distance from
town. My sister from Studio3design in "Sydney"
designed the Pelican Shed, which was then built
in 1999. Our children (Emily, Harry and Tom) are
now are teenagers and are often at the beach
surfing or skim boarding.
I found a little run down stone cottage in
"Kingston" that we called Seagrass, it was
renovated it into the stylish, coastal inspired
cottage that it is today. More recently we have
added Driftwood to our group of retreats, which
is located around the corner from the Pelican
Shed.
Rob and I are farmers from Willalooka, near
Padthaway. We have sheep, cattle, cereals, small
seeds and produce lucerne hay. Rob is a cabinet
maker by trade, so this has certainly helped
with all the renovations. The artwork on show
around the houses is evidence of my passion (and
Emily's) for painting our beautiful coast line.
I hope you enjoy your time at our retreats as
much as we have enjoyed renovating and
holidaying in them ourselves.
Relax and enjoy
Sonya
